KSE-100 index gains 126.39 – Mettis Global Link

October 10, 2022 (MLN): KSE-100 benchmark index gained 126.39 points (0.30%), to close at 42,211.64 points on Monday.

The KSE-100 index experienced a bullish trend on Monday and hit a high of 42,441.29 and manage to close at 42,211.64. The upward momentum in PSX was underpinned by the market’s expectations of the SBP keeping the policy rate unchanged at 15% and the rupee’s appreciation against the dollar.

The SBP in its monetary policy announced decided to keep the policy rate unchanged at 15%.

Out of 87 companies’ shares traded today 44 companies recorded gains and 39 companies sustained losses and 4 companies’ shares remain unchanged.

In terms of sectors, most of the positive contributions came from technology, cement, oil & gas, chemical, and cable & electrical goods which cumulatively added 182.21 points to the index tally by the day’s end.

The index witnessed a volume of 139 million, an increase of 25.14% from 104.27mn shares traded on Friday last week. Meanwhile, the volume leaders on the benchmark index were PAEL (27.14mn), TRG (26.75mn), UNITY (12.65mn), LOTCHEM (11.57mn), and HUBC (10.29mn).

The scrips which gained the most during the session included: UPFL (1.76%), NESTLE (1.74%), RMPL (0.39%), INDU (0.90%), and TRG (5.06%). On the other hand, the stocks that emerged as net losers during the day included COLG (1.91%), FCEPL (5.91%), SRVI (1.27%), HINOON (0.69%), and POML (2.03%).
